Thump noise.

#1 Unread post by fra8877 »

I have a 2006 Kawasaki ninja 650r. When I pull the clutch and coast, I can feel a faint thump in the footpegs. It almost feels like its every time the wheel goes around. What are a few things this could be? Thanks

Guessing here...

A flatspot on a tire, a blister on a tire, out of balance wheel, warped brake rotor, bad wheel bearing, kinked chain, puppy caught in the spokes.....?
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

Yeah, I will probably ask one of the guys at my shop to hop on it and see what they think. It is not that noticable, but it being a new bike I don't want to overlook anything. Btw the puppy thing made me lol for sure. hah. thanks.

Sounds like bad spot in the chain. It might be due for a chain by now. If you adjust the chain and the thump comes back within a few miles, probably time for a new chain. And sprockets, change them both at the same time.

-1 on the puppy. PO didn't say anything about a persistent yelping.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

I don't think the yelping would be very persistent.

Back to +1 for the puppy.

Today I looked at the chain. It seems like there is too much slack. I was thinking that the thump may be the chain smacking against the rubber guard because it has too much slack. I'm gonna tighten it up and see what happens.
