New to this. Read on here somewhere last summer a posting about the best motorcycle tires, but now I can't find it. I have an '03 Road King, and looking for new tires. Anyone have input about the best touring tires? Thanks.

I find the stock Dunlops work quite well, but have used Metzeler ME 880's before and been impressed with them.

Of the brands that I have used in the past, I composed the following list with my prefered brands toward the top. I have ran others that I cannot remember at the time!
Avon
Metzeler
Connies
Goodyear (no longer in production)
Firestone (no longer in production)
Arco (no longer in production)
Yokahama
Bridgestone
Pirelie(sp)
Michelin
Carlisile
Irc
Kenda
Sears (no longer in production)
Monkey Wards (no longer in production)
Bando (no longer in production)
Duro
Maxxis/Chen Shin
Dunstops (I don't like Dunlops)
Coker (great for restoration bad to ride on)
King
However as far as sales in the shop go the shortened list is as follows. (most popular first)
Avon
Chen Shin
Dunlop
Kenda
Metzler
Connies
Also real popular are the Goodyear Speedgrip replicas, esp. for older HDs

The best tires for your bike are the ones that came stock with. A few guys named brands that work well with harleys. If I was you I would find a good Harley dealer and find out what tires is on the list for you bike. Going to different tires can change the way your bike handles, sometimes good and sometimes bad.

Your best touring tire will probably be the Metzlers that King Robb and Gummi were mentioning. For performance Avon is very hard to beat for cruisers...
