2003 CBR600RR running temperature

On a typical 60 degree day the bike runs at about 226 degrees. This seems a bit high. I have checked Honda manuals a can't find any running temperature range, only the overtemp mark. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of what this bike typically runs at?

Seems pretty hot. Although my buddy's down in Phoenix was running at 220 normally. Also an 03 CBR600RR so maybe it's just that gen?

I have a '04 CBR600RR, which is the same bike. The thermostat kicks in at 175 F on mine, and on the highway, that's where it stays on a 60 degree day. Even in traffic, I don't think it would go too much over 200 on a 60 degree day. Yes 226 is definitely high and I think I've only seen that on a stop and go traffic on a 90-100 degree summer day. Even on a 90-100 degree day, on the highway, it stays around 185.

What kind of riding are doing? It certainly does not sound normal.

Sorry for the delay getting back to the post. It runs at this temperature in around the town riding, alot of stop and go but not alot of traffic. The fan kicks in around 225 and lowers the temp to 215 and shuts off regularly.

What are you using ti measure the temp? The stock dash gauge? They can be less than accurate. Try shooting an infra red temp gun at various places around the cooling system, like where the rad hose goes into the rad and where it comes out. That will give you a more correct temp as well as some idea of how much temp drop you get across the rad.

Just going by the stock digital gauge numbers. Thanks for the IR gun idea, that will be a great help.

I would say(at least on mine) the gauges on the CBR is very accurate. The fuel gauge may be the most accurate I have ever seen on a motorcycle hands down.
