So, I recently travelled to Mexico (from the states) and decided to stay here a little longer than planned. So, I figured the best thing to do for transportation would be a motorcycle, since I've wanted one for a long time and it's always warm here.
A guy I'm working with is selling his '92 Kawasaki 500. He's asking 22,000 pesos for it, which right now is pretty much exactly $1,500 USD. I rode the bike today and there is still plenty of power, although of course it can't be expected to drive as if it were brand new. It's had tune ups every 3-4 months, and before the current owner bought it, the engine was replaced. The odometer reads 24k miles.
Really I just want to know if this is a fair price and if it would be a good buy. In my opinion it would be a decent starter bike (I have limited experience riding) but my concern is that it's 17 years old. How much does a bike depreciate in that time?
Any advice is welcome!

kelly blue book for the 92 Kaw EX500 A6 WITH Fairing is only $1275 so I'd say not such a great deal unless there are a TON of options plus the fairing!! Kawasaki has been making the 500 for a long time and you always read about how it is a great starter bike that has lasting power for many seasons for a lot of riders. If it is in great condition and has the options, get in there and negotiate.
