speed limit

Just read in the Monday's paper that they are doing water line construction on US 50. It will be reduced to one lane in each direction and speed limit will be reduced to 40 MPH.

I think they need a new editor as the speed limit there when they are not doing construction and have all four lanes open is only 35.

Maybe it's not the editor that's the problem.

I think it's more likely that the DOT just provided the paper with incorrect information. For all we know the construction guys didn't see any 40 signs at the depot and just grabbed some 35 signs instead, despite the work orders calling for a 40 mph speed limit.

Or it changed at the last minute and the PR department of the DOT was working on old information. Or someone got confused and just typed the wrong info into the press release.

Strangely, because it is not a hi way project, DOT is not involved. Entire project, including traffic control is being done by the sanitation dept.

The 35 limit has been in place at least 30 years, and when it starts next week I am sure construction zone speed will be 25 or 30 and not 40 as reported. I also read this in the Pueblo paper that seems to report our "local" news 2-3 days earlier than our local paper.

Departments hell were talking a special sanitation district working on a US hi way in the City Limits. The only thing the CDOT does here is plow snow, everything else has been moved to Pueblo.

Wow that slipped by me.

Are you back in Springs? a couple of us are thinking about getting a chapter of retreads riding club here, but if my memory serves me well you would need to marry a cougar to join. (main requirement is that member or spouse is XL+, over 40) I filled out my application in Nov but keep forgetting to mail! They are having a rally in June in Las Vegas (the one in New Mexico)

Yep, back in the Springs now! And I wouldn't mind marrying a cougar... She might be able to buy me a new bike!
Well hey, if you want to hang out or want some help on one of your machines, definitely let me know!

And as for the departments, the Sanitation had to talk to the Police, they had to talk to the Public Relations department, and they had to talk to the city council to see how much kickback money they'd receive!

hehehe

And I actually miss the fact that they can get road work DONE in CO Springs.

I moved home to LA, and b/c we don't have much winter here, they can take YEARS to do a 3 month project.

They actually FORGOT to come back to a project for over 2 years here in Baton Rouge after Katrina. :/
