I've been having issues with this bike for a while. Long and short is this: I got the bike after it had been sitting in storage for about 3 years. Put in a new battery, completely cleaned the carb and gas tank and the bike ran fine for about 200 miles. Then it started dying in gear but running fine in neutral. After pushing the connector for the side-stand kill switch in the bike ran fine for about 7-800 more miles. Then started with the same thing a month or so ago.

Cleaned contacts on switch and connector, still no luck. In a mis-guided attempt to bypass the switch I tried to start the bike with the stand completely unplugged. From that point on the bike won't even turn over. I ordered a new switch and connected it, and the bike still won't even turn over any more. In fact, now it is making a buzzing sound. I don't know if I fried something, or if the starter just went bad, and if that is even contributing to the original problem. I'm open to any suggestions. I have 2 bikes not running and the weather here is stinking GORGEOUS

Well on Zukes the side stand connection switch has to be connected for it to try to start at all. So if you bypass it again, pull it off and connect the two wires running in/out of it.
As for the buzzing sound, is it when the key is on? When you're pressing the starter button? What are the conditions it does it under? If it's a clicking noise I'd vote to charge the battery.

And as for your peace of mind. I seriously doubt you fried anything trying to start it without a side-stand switch.

The buzzing sound happens only when I press the starter button. Never had an issue starting it before. Only after I tried to start it with the side stand switch completely disconnected.

I did check the starter fuse in the fuse box, and it's fine.

Load test your battery and make sure all the wires and connections in the starter wiring are good and clean. The buzzing noise sounds an awful lot like a lack of power getting to the starter and/or solenoid, for whatever reason.

Most of Florida is awfully humid and everything corrodes much faster than you'd think. (We have a beautifully maintained W650 that spent its first three years in Daytona and it's amazing how badly the aluminum is oxidized.) I'm with these guys; I think you have a corroded connection at the battery or the starter solenoid or the ground attached to the motor. You need to charge the battery up in order check all your connections, though.
Just because it looks clean, doesn't mean it is. You might want to unscrew the connections and get a good close look, and a little dialectic grease on the connection will prevent it happening again.

Cleaned off the contacts (battery, ignitor, starter relay and just about every other contact I could find ) with CRC and am charging the battery now. I'll update soon.

SWEET!!!! Started right up! I ran it down the street and it's running perfectly. The battery must have just been low from sitting for a couple of weeks. I'm so happy! The weather's been way too nice to miss out on. Thanks for the help guys!
