Okay, so the bike runs again, nice a smooth the way I thought it should. The problem I'm having is that the left side seems to have more pressure on the exhaust than the right, also, there is some white smoke coming from the left exhaust when it runs, and none from the right. I rebuilt the carbs with "spec" kits i got from bikebandit.com. The carbs aren't sync'd yet, as I don't have a manometer. I know someone who does and am going to get the bike there before I start riding for the season. Could this be an issue that will go away when I sync, or am I looking at something far more sinister...

Hard to make a firm call over the net, but un-even exhaust pulse pressure is pretty normal on any engine at idle, or even when rev-ed up with no load on it. For example.... when you ain't actually riding it. And then, it's a pretty hairy deal feeling for the exhaust pressure. A compression test will tell you more than the exhaust pressure will. What an engine is doing at idle is really a poor indicator of it's condition or how it will perform when under load.

Chances are, your motor is O.K., but you do want to get the carbs sync-ed before riding season. If you really feel the need to check something in relation to the problem, check the valve lash.

That's an answer I can live with, now I just need to put on my new tires and muffs and I should be ready to rock...now I just need the ice to melt off the roads
