I soon will be looking for my first bike after taking the MSF class. It seems the most recommended bikes for beginners are the Kawasaki Ninja250 or 650 and the Suzuki GS500 family.

I am a tall guy at 6'3" 255". I am wondering if I am too big for these bikes or if there is a better choice size wise for me. I am thinking I may look like a moose on a tricycle with a sport type bike. I know nothing about bikes at this point so somebody straighten me out if I am way off base here please.

Well honestly the Ninja 250 would probably look like a toy underneath you, but the GS is a fine bike for someone your size.
I've ridden a buddy's and it fit me just fine. I'm 6'2" 300 lbs. And yes, it WILL do 100 even with me on it, just ask the cop that so graciously offered me an invitation to the annual police dance! (Fortunately I got off with a warning as he only clocked me as "fast" in a 65.
But yeah, they corner pretty well, are basically bulletproof engines, and will handle guys our size without a problem!
Have owned - 2001 Suzuki Volusia

so ive had a 2006 gs500 for two years and put 22k miles on it, ive modded it alot and make it look really similar to a gsxr600, im 6'7 and 240 and i used to commute 50miles each way to work every day early in the morning and i would take that thing to 120mph on the freeway, i can crouch down below the windscreen easier than i can on most 600's and ive even taken it on 200mi+ rides across the state, its been a really reliable bike and ive learned alot as its my daily driver, im looking for new 600 tail section to make it sit up a bit higher being as im about the tallest person i know that rides and to give it more of a sportier feel when riding it, my g/f is also almost 6ft and when we bolth ride i can still get that lil guy up to 100mph on the freeway, ive been thinking about upgrading for some time but its paid off and all my friends that ride larger displacement bikes wont even keep up with me as it is so im gonna stick with my GS500f and i deffinetly get alot of comments from the guys on the looks
