Wrong Motorcycle

After talking to alot of riders and some will even tell you , They got the wrong motorcycle. Yes I think it would be that 50 % of riders here in the USA buy the wrong motorcycle, I know I did this in the past. Most buy a bike because of what it looks like, some buy one for the power and speed of it. But haft of us never buy what we really need in one. Say someone wants a sportbike and that's all they want, now they want to tour the US on, Hah. Or that guy that got that new FL tourer just to ride around town on. I know we do this I have done this in the past. I think every rider sould get what they want and ride what they want, it is that money , but just think about it what was that wrong motorcycle that you owned. My wrong one was a BMW R110RT , A good motorcycle, but was not good for me.

My Buell XB9 was great fun. I did a couple of long trips and I did hurt. It was a lot of fun for short 200-300 mile trips. I did need to put my feet down about every 75 miles. I now have a highway bike in my garage 1984 HD FXRS (Superglide). I am looking into a dual purpose for around town. There is a lot of wrenching to do on the HD and I am not much of a wrench. So it looks as if I will have at least two motorcycles. Sometimes that is the only answer. Just like the difference between a catchers mitt and a first base mans mitt.

When I got my Buell I look and sat on all kinds of motorcycles and I pick the Buell, I don't plane on taking any long trips on it and it good for all the twisty roads by me . If I want to take a longer trip down thee road , I will just have to get a 2nd bike for it.

I like a normal riding position so naked bikes are my style. Just got a Honda 919 with 2,000 miles on it. Does a lot of everything you need/want except "O Ring"-on-the-couch position cruising, which I don't care for.

I bought my current (and first) bike before I had my learner's permit, and did so out of complete ignorance. I had no idea what I needed. But I got very lucky and it turned out to be an excellent choice for what I use it for.

Too many people give up too quick--try adapting the bike to you!

I stared with this, but I just couldn't seem to do "the box" at the BRC

Drag the RIGHT rear brake, then drag the LEFT rear brake...
No sweat.

The bike I started on was just about perfect at the time. A pretty basic 500cc UJM that was great for riding around town.
I started doing a few relatively short highway rides with it and quickly was wanting something better suited for longer distance. I sold it for 3 times more than I paid for it and got my bandit which was just about perfect for me at the time. A good step up in power from the 500 without being overkill and nice and comfy for long distances and twisty backroads.
