Okay so I just got my motorcycle last tuesday and I've been out riding a few times. I LOVE IT!!

But I was wondering if I should get some chaps and if so where is a good place to get them?
Thanks for all your help

Most motorcycle stores have riding pants and chaps.

I'd go for full coverage, get a pair of leather or textile over pants. Chaps are okay, but they don't cover your butt, and from my experience, one's butt usually makes contact when you have a spill.

Sarahh go for the full leather pants as ceemes said. You get better protection and in my opinion the full leathers or full leather pants look better.

Chaps are an improvement over no leg protection at all (and just pants pretty much is no protection). However, they do leave your rear end exposed, and your butt can be one of those body parts prone to road rash. Full coverage riding pants are better choices. It's your bottom......
In my experience most shops do NOT have a good selection of riding gear. They'll have helmets and gloves, some jackets, but rarely riding pants. There isn't a shop within 150 miles of my home that has a decent selection unfortunately.
That leaves mail order. I've had good luck with the following:

I've also had many friends order through here:

www.newenough.com is great

I like
www.motorcyclemall.com too - They let me return a helmet because it was too noisy!

Leatherup is worth a look as well

I'll second what people are saying that full pants, whether leather or textiled armor, beat chaps hands down.
