My left fork is leaking oil on my 1987 Suzuki Savage. The right is ok. I'm thinking of replacing the seals myself on both of them. I've got a manual for it. Is this a hard job or what? I'm cheap. At some point I've go to get some new tires. I hate to leave the shop with a 500 plus bill. Any ideas?

Thanks Tom C

if you're handy, have tools and a place to work you should be able to do it. and if you're not sure if you can, take the forks off and take just them into the shop. it's cheaper to have them do it with you dropping off the forks because they don't have to spend time taking them off and putting them on. same with your tires. just take in the wheels and it's cheaper.

Yep if you're handy, have instructions, and the tools then I'd go for it. Make sure you have something to measure the right amount of fork oil though, that's important.

As for the tires, if you have spoked wheels, its not really that hard to mount the tire. I did mine in about a half hour. Its just like doing it on a bicycle, only bigger. To balance them I just built a rig out of some old 2x4's I had laying around and put that tire in that, worked pretty well for what I needed.

I use a plastic baby bottle. They are marked in oz and ml.
