hi all just a quick qustion about the fuse....headlamp issue
What happened:
my low beams don't work unlike my high beams which do. i went threw the hour long process of removing my head lamp and all that to change the bulb. I pull out one of the old bulbs and replace it. i replace the fuse that kept blowing as well. when i reconnected the wires. With a breath and anticipation i inserted my key, turned it, and flipped the switch. I was very happy at first cause the the lamp came on. but then i remembered those where the high beams which always worked. i turned the switch to low's and heard something snap quietly. i figured it was either the fuse or the bulb that i heard. either way im running out of day light and dont have the benefits of the old mans tools (auto lamp). I left it at that and decided to come here for your advice once again. what could it be.

If it is the fuse always going, you likely have a dead short in the wiring to the lowbeam bulb, after the high beam wires.
If it is the bulb blowing, then something is letting too much power thru to the bulb. I don't know if your bike uses a resistor or a regulator or what to do that, but whatever it is will be faulty.

yeah thanks man. the bulb didnt blow. so im gonna check all the wires between there and the fuse box. i opened one of the harness and found one wire gets spliced into like 7... but i dont think i have to worry about that one. should i just fallow the colors that make sense? and when i do i find its a wire with open insulation i can just fix that by wrapping electrical tape around it rite 
and btw would using a meter make it easier? i already figured out i should only check the low beam wires and whatever it splices with for compromised insulation and visually obvious disruptions to the current. so i dont know if i need one.

If possible, I would start at the bulb socket and work my way back, following the colors as I went. Another wildass guess of mine is that you will find the problem between the socket and the switch on the bars, or in the harness leading up to the switch. This is the part of the harness that does most of the moving, therefore has the best chance of damage to the wires..... but that is pure conjecture on my part.
Once you find a damaged wire (assuming you do find one), you can splice in a crimp-on connector, or just wrap the wire with tape like you're thinking.

lol i gotta tell you its some kind of word i cant think of when you feel like your a genius for discovering your a silly mistake. my bulbs went out one at a time. i figured... eh ones blowing and then next.. i only had one bulb new to replace at the time.... well, turns out i only tried it in one fixture and not the other... there is a short.. but its not anywhere else but that one headlight... so at least i can ride with one headlight.. (lol just thought of the wallflowers song. i keep finding ways to relate to it) whoooooooo man. load off.. tnx for watching me get this. now if anyone else comes on here like "er what do i do".... you can tell them to check both head lamps.. now i gotta tape everything back up.
