I just purchased a new 08 roadstar. The dealership installed a set of Vance and Hines Power Shots along with a Fi 2000. Now the bike has 700 Miles and is backfiring and shooting fire about 2 feet out of the tail pipes and bluing the pipes. Can anyone tell me hoe to stop this as the dealer has adjusted the fi200 and says there is nothing else he can do. Thanks for your help, greg

Sounds like they have it running WAYYYY too lean... Did they plug in the O2 sensor to the new pipes? That could be part of the problem. Those run their FI systems closed-loop, meaning they NEED feedback to make sure they're running right. If so, did you leave the baffles in the pipes? If not put them back in, ought to make a huge difference.

The V & H Pipes didn't come with o2 sensors on them so therefore they are not plugged in. Also the baffles are in the pipes. Any other suggestions? Do I need to install o2 sensors from the original pipes on the aftermarket ones?

Yeah you need to install the O2 sensors in the aftermarket pipes. Otherwise it'll just blue the crap out of your pipes. The FI program Yamaha uses needs that or it will never function properly.
