Chicken Strips......what are they?
I always assumed it was the little rubber stripes that are on a new tire and the rider does lean over enough to scrub those out on the outer part of the tire. Is that correct? Or is it just the part of the tire that is not scrubbed in?
Thanks

I just make sure I use the whole tire, so I don't worry about it...
I believe it's the outside strips of unscrubbed rubber where you don't ride...Like I said before, I can't relate. Okay, I have about 1/8 inch chicken strips, but I can't afford the ticket I'd get if I took those off.

Often you can "combo" them with a basket of fries and a drink......you knew someone would say it......

"chicken strips" are the wear lines that go up a tires sidewall. the higher they go up, the lower you lean in turns, thus, meaning you're taking the twisties more aggresivley than your buddy, in turn increasing your "badass" rating with your friends! how'd i know this and not even have enough money to buy a bike yet? i found the bikers dictionary (
http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/dictiona ... -index.htm) about a week ago and read through it! check it out!

See the part of the tire that hasn't been scrubbed by the road yet?
That's what they call a chicken strip. Only it's usually much bigger, like so:
(back and front tires of my Radian

)

My tires wear the same way...Maybe a better nquestion is, why are the rear tire strips gone, and the front ones still 1/4 inch wide? Any takers?
BTW skier, I just bought a rear tire without that pronounced cruiser style lip at the edge of the tread. It wraps around like a sportbike tire, and really made me feel better in a lean. I was starting to skitter around a bit in some of our tighter turns, and at right turn intersections. Kindof like falling off the edge of the tire for a second. This tire fixed that.
