Yesterday I saw an ad pop up on Craigslist for a 1995 Yamaha Virago 1100 with 18,500 miles, garage kept and new tires for $1,600. I jumped on it and drove an hour and a half with my family to go look at it after our worship team practice last night. It was in pretty nice shape. The guy had started modding it into a custom bobber of sorts, and had re-painted the tank, fenders and covers "sunset metallic orange" (I think), and the frame and mufflers black, removed the sissy bar and turn signals (?), center stand, taken off the horns (??) and some of the protective bars covering hot parts of the bike (???). He still had all the parts and gave them to me with the bike, so that's cool. I can remount them (although I may look into some alternatives for the turn signals to stay consistent with the look). He also gave me a leather shoulder bag with a rain suit, some fingerless gloves and some other things I haven't looked at yet.
He let me take it for a ride to the end of his street. I must say, it is VERY light and has a really low center of gravity. Only got it up to about 25 mph, so I didn't have a good feel for the power until I rode it almost 80 miles home! All I can say is WOW! On my 250, 55 mph felt like the engine was really pushing it, and if I had to accelerate to 60-65, it was slow and sounded like the engine was going to blow up underneath me! On this, when the speed limit went from 55-60, I gently twisted the throttle and was quickly pushing 70, and the engine was just purring... nice

It's not perfect; the fork seals have a small leak, the choke isn't working and the trip odometer isn't either, but all of the major things seem to be great so far.
I'll post some pics when I can get them
