1982 Honda CB900 engine noise sounds like upper area...

I recently purchased this very fine, virtually new looking 1982 Honda CB900 Special with appx 20k miles from 'careful' original owner. Due to the pristine cond. I 'assumed' that the oil level would be o.k (alright, so I 'assumed' too much)...after noise started, I checked the oil... it wasn't 'OK' (1.3 qts low)... Long story short... I 'think' I may have burnt a bearing, but I'm not a mechanic...there's a noise coming from what sounds like the upper area of engine...sounds like the noise an old electric hand drill that's shot makes, if you've ever heard that noise...only happens when it's warmed up and actually being driven. Doesn't seem to do it when idling or revving in neutral. If you KNOW where/what it is, that would be helpful. Thanks!
