How are boots supose to fit?

Ok so I'm taking the MSF course in a little more then a week. I plan to buy a sport bike after I finish the class. I bought a helmet and gloves yesterday, and tried on some boots by Alpinestars and Sidi. But most of them felt like loose fitting moon boots from the 80's. Now I snow ski and rock climb, two sports that require very tight fitting uncomfortable footwear. Granted I didn't try on any of the race boots with all the plastic all over them, but I want something that I can wear around at my destination with out looking like a storm trooper in disguise.

I have a skinny foot and a skinny heel, and most of the boots I tried on I could pull my heel way up into the calf part of the boot. Is this normal, or a sign of a boot that is too big? They felt a lot looser then what I would want to wear walking around, and I would think that I would be better for something like motorcycle boots to fit tight. I tried Alpinestars and SIDI as those were the brands that they had in my size. The SIDI's were definitely better then the alpinestars for my skinny feet. Are there other brands/models that I should check out that are usualy skinnier and or smaller in the heel?

a boot is a boot, it should fit snugly, there's no reason to have loose boots unless you want huge blisters...

Ok that's what I thought. Any suggestions on any models or brands I should try?

I went to walmart and got a $30 pair of brown steeltoes. They saved my feet when I hit that patch of ice and dumped, so I'm happy with them.

I wear my duty boots, Corcoran steel toe combat boots. They get scuffed some, but that's what my shine kit is for.

As ankles are a very complex part of the human body, and very difficult to put back together, it's also really important to make sure the boots are strong, really good quality leather that can be laced or velcroed to provide support and protection for the ankles.
I don't think it matters if there work boots, or riding boots, long as they do the job of protecting your feet and ankles and are comfortable.

Ditto Psycluded on the combat boots. My issue Altama's will be my riding boots. Full leather, and they have good support (it's been tested by way of exiting an aircraft with a few hundred pounds of gear strapped to me). Your local surplus store will have several pairs in several sizes. The key is to make sure your heel fit is snug, and there isn't excessive pressure over the top of your foot where the laces cross. Everything else can be fixed with really hot water, and time. I wouldn't use jungle boots, or any of my current desert issue. Just my issue speedlaces.

of course riders should use the preferred boots for driving. those cowboy boots with heels arent convenient I guess! Boots should fit properly to offer a comfortable effect!

One thing to remember about boots. Any boot that you can slide on without undoing them can also pull off in a crash.

i have combat boots with straps at the top...i think their tommy hilfigar though...i got them at gabrieal brothers for 25 bucks...the souls are riveted on...i like em....

oh and i saw some squid on an f'ing zx6r wearing f'ing CLOGS.
