Hello all,

I'm 25 YO male currently living in Washington State, but relocating to Oahu in the 2nd week of July. This drastic change in location has promted me to persue my dream of owning a motorcycle.

I think like all new riders my age I wanted to initially start out on a 600cc I4, but after much reading I've decided to go with something like an Suzuki SV650. I have of late been really interested in the Super Moto's. I'll be doing a lot of city driving and I think the spped limit in Oahu on H1 is like 55 MPH so a SM might do the trick for me... the issue is finding one thats in my price range since the style is so new.

The greatest thing about moving to Hawaii besides the weather is that its now really economical and practical for me to ride a motorcycle instead of drive a car. I'll also be living just off of Tantulus (sp?) up in Makiki. If you've every been up this road its made for bikes... I still can't wait to ride up and down this raod everyday too and from work/school.

My riding History: A little dirt riding when I was in High School. Finished the Basic Riders Course a few weeks ago and now have my endorsment.

Looking forward to being an active rider and part of the TMC.

Colin

:tricycle: Welcome! One thing for sure is even though there's no Helmet law in Hawaii I hope you decide to wear one! I see from your post that you're interested in SUMO's. Geez, let me tell you they're the best thing for city riding you can get. If you plan on doing a longer commute with more freeway riding then go for the SV. The SV's a great starting bike too. If you've ridden dirt then you'll be use to the SUMO's ergo's. Both are great choices. You'll be happy with whatever you choose. If you can get both!
