First accident

Well it has finaly happened. Driving south on Oak street on a beautiful Saturday morning, I was almost at the Oak street bridge and freedom when a inattentive car driver blows through a red light 3 blocks from the bridge.I tried to miss his rear end as he blew through but just caught his rear quarter panel. I twisted around as I hit him and went down in the intersection, rear of my beloved, beautiful mint 1997 Honda pinning my left leg under the bike.

It took a few wonderful bystanders to get the bike off my leg and in my daze I was able to get it on the shoulder with the kick stand down. Then all the Emergency vehicles arrived, 2 firetrucks and 2 ambulances, all the guys ready to help me, take down witness names for me , make sure I was OK to go on my own, it was a tribute to our Canadian way of life.

One older Asian man with a turban insisted on checking the other drivers license number to make sure , in my daze, that I had been given the right license information , to the point of confronting the other driver to ensure I was protected. Other witnesses taking pictures of the offending vehicle. It was a heart warming experience in the middle of a personal disaster.

So far it seems that my bike has a lot less damage that this old 65 year old body, torn Rotator shoulder cup, severe bruising and swelling on my left leg and foot. It is a little difficult to move around right now but the good news...leather jacket, thick leather gloves good jeans and a great helmet saved my life!!

Stupid drivers.

It's good that your ok for the most part. What was the driver's excuse? Or did he have one?

Glad to hear you're alright, Cliff, and also glad to hear there's still some common decency out there (bystanders, not the other driver).

Geezuz mate sounds like you won the Irish lottery

Unlucky to be at that point in time when this guy decided to perform his kamikazi manouvre

Lucky you wernt severly injured or worse.

People running reds and slamming a bike has to be one of the most feared situations ya can face as a rider...maybe second to rounding a corner to find a truck on your side of the road.

Hope you heal quick and get back out there soon.

I'm sorry you were in an accident and I am very glad to hear that you are alive and if not perfectly well, at least in a condition that you may ride again if you choose to.

Sorry to hear you had a collision, good to know that you were able to walk away. The next couple of days will be the worse. I hope you will see you family doc just to make certain you dont have a blood clot forming somewhere and so your injuries will be properly documented. In case something needs surgical repair later on, you will have a better time of it once things are properly documented in the medical field. I wish you and your bike a speedy recovery...

Glad to know you're alive and well (or at least, less injured than you could've been) and that common decency is alive and well too (yep, with the bystanders, not the driver). Take care.
