I picked up my bike today, a new Suzuki SV650s. I hadnt ridden any sort of bike in about 5 years, so my brother and I decided I better practice on a little 150 dirtbike first. His friend had the bike and a little dirt track to practice on.
It was alot of fun on that little thing, but it only took me about 20 minutes to drop it

I was just trying to do too many things at once, my brain overloaded and I low-sided it. I might have been doing 10mph, so me and the bike are fine. A little rash on my elbow, and a few laughs were my only hurts. Riding in dirt is super tricky, but alot of fun.

Congratulations for being smart enough to learn on dirt rather than pavement! That is my #1 piece of advice when folks tell me they want to learn to ride. I tell them to pick up a cheap 4-stroke dirt bike (an old 80's beater will do nicely) and drop the "pee" out of it. Once they stop dropping it and wrecking all the time, it's time to buy a late 80's or early 90's naked standard, preferably between 500 and 750cc's. Once they've mastered that, it's time to hit the showroom!

Heh, ya I skipped a few steps. I picked up some frame sliders also. It looks like they should help alot with avoiding alot of minor stuff from happening to the fairing. Lets hope

swatter, you sound as if you are planning on dumping your bike. You need to think positive. It's a good thing to be prepared, but, there is an old saying....If you set yourself up to fail, you will succeed.
I hope you never succeed in scraping up your bike or your body.
