What did you get for your $303?

#1 Unread post by High_Side »

$303 for each taxpayer in Canada. That is how much each taxpayer in Canada has flushed down the crapper in donating it to GM. Shortly thereafter the Prime Minister declared the investment a "probable write-off". With this "investment", there is no gaurantee that the company will commit to even maintaining jobs in Canada.

Having long ago learned my lesson on buying GM vehicles, it's no secret that if you make crappy cars for long enough, people will stop buying them, or in GM's case, stop wanting to pay profitable prices for them. Why couldn't we just skip this step and keep our $7 billion and fast forward to next year where we will be in the same boat anyway?

The worst waste of $ in Canadian history :frusty:

And in the US we have only just began. $303 will seem like a drop in the bucket when O-Bomber gets done!

I was gonna write a big ol' rant about how crappy GM products have become lately, but I find I am just so disgusted by them that it isn't worth my time. And having to fork out tax money to bail out such a lost cause just makes it worse.

The censor-bot won't allow me to express how disgusted I am with GM (and every other corporate leech), our Government and the criminals running the whole financial system.....

Budget Alternative

Dear Mr. Harper,

Please find below my suggestion for fixing Canada's economy.

Instead of giving billions of dollars to the car industry that will squander
the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.
You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about 10 million people over 50 in the work force.
Pay them 1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire. Ten million job openings - Unemployment fixed.

2) They MUST buy a new CAR. Ten million cars ordered - Automotive Industry fixed.

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing and Mortgage Crisis fixed.

4) They must send their kids to school / college / university - Crime rate fixed.

5) Buy $50 of alcohol/gas a week - there's your money back in duty / tax etc.

It can't get any easier than that!

P.S. If more money is needed, have all members of parliament pay back their falsely claimed expenses and second home allowances.

I like it, especially since I am knocking on that 50 year old door now....but buy a car????? Can't I buy a bike instead???
Always ask why.

I think GM should give us all a car. They might actually be able to increase revenue if they sell their cars for what they are actually worth....

They would have done better to build cars worth buying in the first place. The build quality of GM in particular (all domestics in general) is terrible, and has been getting even worse the last few years.

I don't understand how they can lose money building vehicles that cost $1.63 in materials....... :frusty:
