I had this really uneasy feeling in my stomach as i left work today it was so weird. Almost like i knew something was up as i was leaving and got into my truck.

As i got home from work i came upon probably the most heart sinking, stomach turning sight, my bike flat on its side. I almost felt sick to my stomach as i parked next to it lying there. The first thing i did was knock on my neighbors doors and ask if anybody had seen anything......and no luck. I know it couldn't have been my fault as i always park it on level ground with the rear tire park against the curb, i gave the bars two tugs like i always do to make sure the weight is over the kickstand. I am so pissed right now i don't even know what to do. Obviously i have to call the dealership for them to pick the bike up and have them take a look at it, i have no idea how much this is going to cost to fix. This is so frustrating, i spent my year off from school to work and save money for a bike, and now its trashed. I don't think i have enough money to fix the problem and keep the bike past this summer, i need money too badly for school. What a great start to the week.

The left side fairing is scraped and bent out of place from the windscreen. The gear selector is bent towards the bike and it barley moves. When i put the bike into neutral it will start, but when i drop it into first gear the engine just clunks and the bike shuts down. Eff, i swear to god if i ever catch who "messed" with my bike im going to kill them.

Anybody ever have anything like this happen to them?

I had some lady walk into the bank I was in asking if anyone knew who owned the motorcycle parked outside. I was the only one wearing leather and holding a helmet.....

She forcefully pushed my bike over with her door when she pulled up next to the bike and didn't want to move over to any of the other empty spaces right beside her. I was 17-18 and I didn't take it well. I made her cry. Sometimes, when I get really drunk, I feel bad about it. But I don't drink much.....

Anyways, my bike wasn't badly hurt, and there is a good chance your's isn't either. The rash sucks and all, but if you have to, tape can probably get it through the summer. The shifter may just be hanging up linkage and a field-bend to straighten the shifter may get rid of that. Or straighten/replace the linkage rod or ends or whatever is binding. Just falling over should not have whacked the input shaft hard enough to bend it, but strange things do happen sometimes.

If it keeps shutting off when put into gear, the issue might be with the sidestand or clutch safety switch. One or the other may have gotten damaged in the fall.

Have the shop or some one you trust look the bike over, but question any major tranny work and be satisfied with the answers before you give the O.K. for any work.

+1 on the safety switches possibly being shot. I thrashed the hell out of my dirtbike to the point the shift lever was almost touching the crank case and it still shifted fine (most of the time...). As for the plastics, just go for this look
Image

I'm still thinking of doing it myself, but the black plastics look oh so nice when they're freshly waxed.

I had something similar to this happen once. I was at a party once, sans bike, and someone I knew told me he had sat on it. I was pretty furious, but he didn't make like anything was wrong so I let it go. Next morning I sit on it to go play tennis and when I reach for the brake lever my hand just goes straight to the throttle. I then notice the entire right side is smashed. After a call to the police I found out they found it the night before laying in the middle of the street and just propped it back up. The guy said he didn't do it, and I had no evidence to prove he did. Luckily, I have full coverage so I got new exhaust, handle bars, mirror, windshield and floorboards for $500. And somehow my premium still went down! As a college student I HIGHLY recommend comprehensive, it can save your bike.
