Back in the saddle after 30 yrs!

Must be a 'baby boomer' thing... after 30 years I'm back in the saddle...
I wanted to start back with something I could handle easily so settled on a new 09 Kawasaki Vulcan 500. It's a great machine and I'd recommend it to anyone who's looking to get back into riding after being away. I was aprehensive about handling those bigger cursiers so this fit teh bill perfectly (not too many $ bills either!). I've had it a month now, put on 1600km.
My wife and I have even done a few runs on it, last time she was on the back of my bike we were in our late teens! It was very cool to have her holding on again! (although we have invested in a back rest and windshield). Wy even my 19 yr old daughter wants to ride with me. How cool is that!

awesome, welcome to the site. i'm really sort of wishing i'd opted for the Vulcan 500 as my starter bike, but i'm also loving the ninja 250. amazingly nimble and very good throttle response without feeling like it'd throw you off the minute you don't respect it.
being a Six Sigma Guy, you wouldn't happen to be associated with Raytheon at all, would you?

While I'm a Six Sigma Guy I'm not associated with Raytheon - I'm a Canadian eh, working, and now riding, on the east coast of the Great White North.
I found this TMW site by googling 'push steering', which a buddy suggested I try. Now as a LSS Black Belt I'm thinking push "left to go right" seems counter intuitive and I'm used to thinking counter intuitively... but...not sure I want to try it...
Any experience with push steering?

Actually I've found I have the bad habit of steering with my right hand only, even with both hands on the bars. So I push to go right and pull to go left. Other than that I really don't pay attention to exactly HOW I countersteer, it just happens.

just put an image tag in there.
[.img.]
http://your.image.address[./img.]
just take out the dots and put in the web address.
for example:
[.img.]
images/avatars/gallery/gallery/Kawasaki ... tor800.jpg[./img.] would result in showing your avatar bike either in a post or in a sig block.

Push left, lean left, go left.....Push right, lean right, go right....that is when you are going more than 10kmh.
Under 10kmh you turn the handlebar in the direction you need to steer.
