You're only as old as you feel. :)

The relativity of your age isn't up to anyone else but yourself. Image isn't everything, despite what leading soda advertisers would have us believe. If you feel competent and happy on your new ride, then just enjoy. That's something nobody else can take away from you. I have a magnet on the tank of my bike that reads: if you're going to doubt something, doubt your limits.

Cheers,
Loonette

Check out posts from "Smitty" at http://forum.motorcycle-usa.com/

Smitty's been riding for something like 58 YEARS (he's 70 something) and his bike choices are sport bikes or dual sports - he rode trials races way back when.

Don't cave in to the stereotype that people try to put on you.

I ran into a 76 yr old Lady!! at a local Tim Hortons a month ago. As I ate I was admiring this little bike and wondering where the rider was. All gear was hung on the bike and really did not expect to see this lady to walk up to it. I was eating out by my bike when she came out and I think it was my jaw hanging down that got her to say this, "76 and still frisky". Man did I laugh, I could not talk and could only give her the thumbs up. You go girl I thought. I was still chuckling to myself for five minutes after she left and I'm sure others walking past me thought I'de snapped or something.

HA! Too OLD? That's only true if you think it is. I bought a Honda CBR1100XX in 2000 at my ripe old age of 59 at the time, had 3 wonderful years and many thousands of miles before arthritis forced me to a more moderate ride. Go for it--there is nothing intimidating or dangerous in a 1200f, except for rookies, maybe.
All this is presuming you are a normal healthy person for your age.
