I have a 1980 gs1100e it keeps blowing fuses for the headlight and turn signals am I looking at replacing the voltage regulator? I made the mistake of boosting the bike with my truck they worked before i did this I am thinking that I fried something when I did this, if i put a new fuse in it will work until I Rev the motor and then the fuse blows.

Hang on, I don't have a wiring diagram for your bike bit I'm pretty sure the regulator isn't in the headlight/turnsignal circuit.

Get a manual for your bike. It will have a wiring diagram for your bike. Locate the headlight and follow the wire back to the battery. Use a colored pencil to mark the wire so it stands out on the diagram. Now when you remove the gas tank you know what wire to look for. I do know both circuits controls are on the left switch bank.(Hi-Low/Left-Right/Horn) That is a clue anyway. You have a short to the frame (Ground) somewhere.

Yeah if you're blowing fuses it's a pretty sure bet you have a short where a wire has rubbed through the insulation and is contacting metal somewhere. It may take a while, but following the wires from the headlight and signals will likely show you a rubbed spot.

My guesses are the edge of the headlight bucket, or under the tank where the tank has been put back on top of a wire, or through the rear signals into the rear fender, they often rub through there too.

Run a voltage tester across your battery. Note voltage. Start the bike, rev it up a bit (5000 rpm). Check if the voltage is ridiculously high.

If the voltage stays within reasonable limits, your regulator is ok.
