Mysterious leaking liquid?!?!?!?!

Hey guys this is my first topic and glad to join you guys.

Anyways I have a 1993 Suzuki dr650 SE. I recently had the stator redone from a shop and the bike worked fine. the problem is a week after I got it out if the shop it started leaking what i thought was oil but the bubble showing my oil level never seems to change. I noticed the back break requires alot of pressure to push down to get it to work even slightly. Could this be break fluid possibly oil or something else? Please help

It's an air-cooled bike, so you only have a choice of oil or brake fluid to be leaking. Look around the engine and brake system to find the drips. Look closely at the oil drain plug and the cover over the stator. My guess is an oil leak from one of those two areas.

Well it could be your brake fluid... Is the fluid in your reservoir clear? Brown? Does it match the color of the fluid leaking? If you don't know where your reservoir is follow from the rear of the brake lever... Should be a line taking you right to it.
Otherwise yeah, get underneath and start looking for places with lots of oily residue and usually a lot of grime buildup. Since the shop redid your starter, check the seals around there...

Oil won't hurt paint. Break fluid sure as heck WILL. Try dabbing the mystery liquid on something painted that you don't care about (old lawn mower, old bicycle ...), and see what happens.

Shoot, Greg...No need to sit and wait for the mystery fluid to eat paint.... It's probably not very PC, but whenever I come across a bike weeping "mystery fluid", a little taste test will usually tell the tale. Brake fluid is nasty BITTER. Oil tastes like...oil I don't know how well my kidneys like tryin' to refine the brake fluid from my system, but it takes just a small small VERY small amount to tell. My gut instinct says this is a "weeping" from the stator gasket.
