First ride in traffic

#1 Unread post by dusty97 »

So after a few weekends of short trips out in parking lots and on low traffic highways I brought the bike into town. I live in a city of ~67k people to give you an idea of the traffic situation. Nothing compared to a bigger city but its enough to make me very very aware of how many cars are around me.

However, compared to how nervous I was two months ago when I got on a bike for the first time I felt very comfortable. The bike is a 1994 Harley Sportster 883. My lady's dad had it sitting in his garage for ~8 years w/o riding it so he told me to put some miles on it this summer. Feels like a good starter bike and has more than enough oomph to get me going. Looking forward to putting lots more miles on it.

Camera phone pic but here she is:

I'll be sure to post some more pics when I get home. The internet party's at work block facebook (though rightly so, some people would never do anything around here) where most of the pictures are hiding.

nice lookin' bike, and it sounds like you're taking the right approach--parking lots and low traffic areas and then moving on as you get more comfortable. good luck with it and look forward to seeing more pics.

Currently waiting on a new hip before I can get a new bike.
