need to adjust the valve tappets on the 360 and haven't done it before. Not sure exactly what it is that i'm checking or what i'm doing, its about the only thing my manual is vague on.

This adjustment must be done when the engine is COLD.

1 Open the seat and raise the rear of the fuel tank slightly.
2 Remove the spark plugs, alternator cover, and the valve covers.
3 Turn the engine over slowly in the normal direction of rotation (counterclockwise) while observing the left intake valve. The valve will open as you continue to turn the engine then will start to close. Continue to turn the engine until the "LT" mark on the rotor lines up with the timing index mark on the stator.
4 The left piston should be at top dead center on the compression stroke with both valves closed. Each valve should have some freeplay at this point. If not the engine is at TDC on the exhaust stroke or the valves are set too tight.
5 The correct clearance is 0.05mm (0.002in) for the intake valves and 0.08mm (0.003in) for the exhaust valve.
6 If adjustment is necessary, loosen the adjuster locknut, turn the adjuster for the proper clearance, then tighten the locknut and then recheck the clearance.
7 Turn the rotor 180° counterclockwise and line up the "T" mark on the rotor lines up with the timing index mark on the stator. Both valves for the right cylinder should now be closed and have some freeplay. Check and adjust as before.
