Wow, the modulator really works great!
I swear people must think I'm a cop!
Today people who were way ahead of me, people who if I were them I would've pulled out, people who were not any threat to me at all they were so far away were waiting for me to pass before pulling out!

In Alberta(maybe all of Canada) only emergency vehicles can have headlight modulators. Brakelight modulators are alright though.

im not sure how a flashing light is more 'visible' than a solid light. if anything it draws someones attention to the flashing light and they loose focus of actually driving or paying attention to not hitting you. they might think its not your brake lights cause its flashing(normal brake lights dont flash) and when you quick stop they dont have time to react because they dont relate flashing lights to a brake light and plow into you.
guess its personal preference again, but i just see them more of trying to be something new and safe but they cause more problems than anything.

But you don't really have any stories of problems, do you?
You're right, it is a personnel preference thing. But I must respectfully disagree, I believe that flashing the brake light will help to get the people behind me to notice that I am braking.
I have been flashing my brakes in my car for years if the situation waranted it exactly for that reason. And in the MSF BRC they taught us the flashing the brakes can be effective.
But if you have any actual accounts of problems caused by these I would be glad to hear them.

well when im behind a vehicle that has flashing brake lights i assume either their brake light has a short and is flashing for no reason. if you have the modulator and tap the brake alot it really causes alot of flashing when you dont slow down at all, makes it really look like your lights are just flashing randomly. or at a light if you let off the brake and reapply the sudden flash might make people think your about to pull forward and they rear end you, that happend to my sister just recently. she hit the car in front going only 5-10mph but caused about 2grand worth of damage because of flashing tail lights. flashing isnt a known signal to stop, a solid brake light is know for that. not good to confuse people behind you.
i think adding more lights, like the helmet halo lights or tireflies would help more with being seen and cause alot less confusion. also reflective stickers do alot to get you seen.
