Update on my basket case for those who are interested, I enjoy this kind of stuff anyway. I repaired the damaged fender and painted the tins today. Repaired the damaged frame and it gets powder coated tommorrow. Hope to find someone to ride with soon. I would love to ride to Alaska live in NW PA., I fiqure i will have to work my way up to it though LOL!

i suppose you could technically stand on the shocks and balance on the back wheel like a unicycle while you hold the engine and tranny in one hand to make sure the driveshaft stays connected and feed it gas from a can with the other hand.

it should work, but i'd try it around the block a couple times before heading to alaska.

Thanks for the advice jaskc78. Although I think that is what I am going to have to do to get it back together LOL! The frame is powder coated in the back of the truck right now, it's either go out right now and put it together or drink some cold beer. I am weighing my options.....

You could do both ..... no guarantees on the outcome of your bike, though. lol

Update! I have about 300 miles on the basket case now. I finished it the 17th and have been riding it when I can. I will post a picture as soon as I bum my daughters camera.

very nice, jhawk. can't wait to see it in all its duct-taped glory

to be honest, though, there's nothing quite like those first miles after you bring something back to life, is there? it may sputter, gag, and even stall out and look like something a coyote shat off a cliff, but there's just something about getting it running again and taking it out for a spin.

i don't think i want to sell my '79 scout after all.
