Hey I heard of this place through VTXOA, I have read a lot here already. I got an 82 CM 450 c today and am having issues with super high revs when I pull the throttle just the slightest bit. If I adjust the idle to 1200 and pull the throttle it just takes off to 5 6 thousands, if I adjust a little lower it stalls when in neutral.Even if I pull the clutch in the rpms keep rising, it doesn't look like any cables are getting stuck, I downloaded the manual tonight but I figured I would ask before opening things up. :D Thanks

I would suspect the rubber piece in between the carburetor and the engine. And I'm willing to bet you need a good carb cleaning too.

Yep, that's my vote too, #8 in the schematic. I'm betting you have an air leak there.

Is #16 an o-ring? Better replace it also.

I replaced the carb boots, o rings and exhaust gaskets and still have the same issue, if I set the idle to 1100 and give it throttle it takes off to the 6 thousands and stays there, I have keeping the idle at like 800 and not letting it stall with the throttle. I am going to change the throttle cables next even thought they seem to be ok, seems like something is getting stuck, even when I pull the clutch in the engine revs high. I have gone through the carbs and will again when I get the cables but any other ideas. Thanks

Well if you've got the idle set but when you pull in the clutch the revs go sky high. Sure you're not in gear and the clutch is just slipping? Honestly that's the only thing I could think of. Otherwise I'm out of ideas until I see it myself.
