Well, I'm alive again...

As of right now, its all a dream...

Surgery started at 6 this morning and lasted a little over 6 hours. Thr actual knee replacement took 3 hours and the "Pro from Dover" took another 3 reconstructing the mess of pieces that had been badly damaged in the wreck like tendons, knee cap and other stuff. "TMI" They are happy and now that I'm through it, I'm no longer as scared as I was. :D

I will walk again though for the next 3 months or so I will be wheel chair bound. Kind of s*cks but I will walk again. And they say that I will ride again. It will take 2 more surgeries but in the end I might have to wear a brace but the knee/leg will hold weight. YEAH!!!

One last thing is that I'm naked except for a hodpital gown. Yet groups of medical people trapse in to look at my knee and the pictures as a form of training. The Pro from Dover is one of the best in the world and other doctors, residents and interns are fascinated in his techniques. There are so many of them that I want a percentage of the viewing rights.

Well last thing part 2. Thanks for not beating me up in my time of need. And as for Laura, I think what she said was TMI but I'm suprised that she said it. Don't think less of her for saying it.

Well, last thing part 3. I'm not suing the manufacturer of the knee pad. It was a modifed off road piece that they had felt would work under street conditions. They have come up with a satisfactory settlement that primarily states that they will redesign their small but growing street merchandise line and I won't sue them in oblivian.

As for newbies, once again I hit hard enough to do this kind of damage to myself. What would of happened if I hadn't worn my gear?

Anyway, thank you all. :clapping:

oh, I posted in the wrong place, glad to know your surgery went wel and that you had a good surgeon. Hope your being on display does not tire you out too much.
Bummer about being in the wheel chair, hey at least your on wheels, right!! Just not motorized ones, maybe you can work on that while you are idling around.
I hope your recovery is without complications, goes speedily and that you dont have to endure too much more in the way of surgeries.

Glad that you'll be okay, just keep riding as your goal again and you'll be in the saddle again before you know it...

Glad that you're ok. Obviously we need x-rays, mri's and any pictures you can add online. It's the only way to be cool (check out my blog for real cool arm pictures).

Good luck on the rehab. My girlfriend is an amazing OT but the ones that told me I'd never get my arm straight again seem to be more of the norm.

I'd just read your post about your new job wanting to ban you from riding motorcycles and found this. How are they reacting to this accident? I just laid mine down, 50 mph, in the rain, heavy traffic and construction lane changes. Road rash and bruises (physical and pride) are about it. I was VERY lucky! Hope everything continues to improve for you.

PT starts Thursday or Friday. They needed 7 -10 days for everything to gell. My PT therapist is a petite thing with the 'tude of a WFW star.

After that 2 weeks then sometime after that a 2nd surgery and after that, a 3rd. Then it will take time to heal. But it will be like nearly new in the end, they tell me over and over. :D

I'll lose my positiion at the Ballet, of course.

All PT's are like that, and as part of their training, they learn to channel the spirit of the Marque De Sade.

That being said, they are worth their weight in gold and then some. I had to use their service twice in my life, 16 years ago after getting t-boned off my CB650 and getting my right leg shattered and this year after breaking my upper right arm while walking to the bus. Trust me to slip on a patch of ice the day I decide not to ride to work.

Both times the sweet young things worked me over in a manner that would do the above mention de Sade proud, but I can walk again and use my arm....so all is good.

First of all, I'm so glad everything worked out for you. 'cause maybe it will for me too.

She is happy, friendly even chatty but the whole time I feel like a bird in the gaze of a snake. Also the doctor, as referee, has told me she's very good and all ties go to her.

The scary part is that she isn't just worried about my knee...

:help:

O.K. kids.

I moved all the 'disputed' posts I cared to find to the Soap Box. I left the original thread and anything about bikes where they were. If anyone cares to suggest more threads they want moved, let me know and I'll consider it.

Meantime, continue on with whatever it was you were doing. Cut the girl some slack and let her write whatever she likes if it helps her feel better. Read it or don't, as per your desire, comment, whine, cry, bleat or burp....whatever floats yer boat. Have fun with it, eh.

Everybody happy? Too bad, I'm all out of lollipops and right full of don'tgiveashit. Play nice.
