Hi again,
My carbs need balancing, can anyone help please. Can I do this myself? Can anyone clue me in on any other basic maintenance I should do? This bike sat around for at least 8 months and we had a hell ov a time getting 'er started. After rippin' out the carbs, cleaning them up, cleaning the spark plugs, and getting a new battery, it starts right up. Some other things I need help with are as follows; the secondary head light on/off switch is really loose and it doesn't work. the odometer cable is ripped out, and doesn't work as well. Please be kind and reply. I don't have much money,(that's why I have a Seca) and I really love riding motorcycles, it's one thing that makes me truly happy.

It's okay, the thing just blew up, my wife divorced me, I got a vasectomy, and I found a way not to breathe anybody else's air. I love making new friends!

I didn't mean to be rude by that last post. My bike just puked out all of it's oil. It looks serious and I got really upset. I'll keep it to myself next time. Sorry.

When you say it puked all the oil, which orifice did said oil vacate through.

The incident happened late last night and I had to work all day. I haven't really had a chance to pinpoint yet but the rubber sleeve leading to the shaft had sort of slipped off but I don't think that's it. there are 2 tubes , one of which has a drop of fresh oil on , pointing straight down. I am really new at this, I'm not a total moron but I've never worked on a motorcycle before. When I open up the seat, there is a hollow box. I remember when we were trying to start the bike my buddy sprayed starting fluid in there. Well, there is oil residue in that box now. Tomorrow when I get home from work, I'll take a better look. I did put more oil in tonight and nothing dripped, though I did not start the engine. Oh, I slid the sleeve around the shaft back into place. It seems to have a good seal but I hope that sleeve is not the only thing holding in the oil, and that can't be the same oil, can it? the shaft should be separate from the engine oil, right?

Well it sounds like you're talking about the airbox. If it's hollow that's a problem, you need an air filter in there. And secondly if there's oil in there that means there's too much oil in the bike and it's venting from the crankcase to the airbox.

If I was you, I'd drain all the oil out of that bike and put the correct amount of fresh oil in. You have a manual for your bike don't you?

I don't have a manual, the guy I bought it from couldn't find it. I did download and print a genuine parts catalog. When I first saw the bike we were painstakingly trying to start it and we thought it had too much oil. We drained it and put a little fresh back in. When I got it home, I put more in till the oil light finally went out. There is a screw missing from the cylinder head, I ordered a new one 2 days ago. It spits oil, so I have to top it off sometimes. I never let the oil level get to the top of the little window on the side. but the oil light comes on if it gets too low. I'm not even sure how high the level should be in the little window, there is no indicator.
