Do you know why Most Harleys have such low mileage?



















Because they are too heavy to push any further.

All depends upon what you're looking for and what you're willing to put up with. "Old School" is a perfect way to describe any Ironhead Sportster, so if that's the style you want this bike looks like a great deal. If you don't mind a jackhammer ride and you can spin a wrench, I say go for it.

Oh, and keep in mind - all pre 1975 Sportsters have the brake pedal on the left and the shifter on the right.

Mike's right about all that plus you get the stylish Comstar dual-disk front wheel.

Speaking of left vs right... Gummi, how long did you have to practice for that snappy looking left-handed salute?

No practice, just did it on the spur of the moment. My throttle hand was busy at the time, otherwise it would have been a proper salute.

Me? I would love to get my hands on that bike...that fuel injector problem I had? Not on her. If only I had the half acre pole barn and CEO money.

I have turned a wrench in a the past. From 1990 when I got my license and an Iraqi Taxi for a first car. So I don't think there wasn't I time I didn't have at least 2 malibus in the driveway my taxi for the driver and another one for parts. However I haven't touched one since I took over a lease for my aunt on a 98 Cavalier in 2000.

I do like the old school style however this would be my first bike I am debating on whether it'd be a good choice or not.

As for the riding style I wouldn't know what I like as the only bike I have driven was during my safety course a Yamaha TW200.

It is a Harley I can afford and to buy and pay off in full. I didn't know about the shifter and brake being switched but being new and not being set in my ways this might not be as much of an issue as if I had been riding the normal shifter on left brake on right for years.

That site also has a Kawasakie Eliminator 125 and a Maurader 250 and 800 with fairly low mielage for the years and the 2 low cc's are under 3 grand and the 800 is the same price as the sporsters and 31 years newer and I have seen a boat load of early 2000 shadows for around the same price point.

Then again I can get a brand new Hyosung 250 cruiser or sport bike for around the same price point and a Ninja 250 or honda rebel. So much choice I really don't know what to do. As these new bikes I could pay cash for or pay off in under a year finanicing. I'd like a new harley but don't know if I want to commit to 5 years or so of payments being this would be my first bike and I'm really not sure what type of style or riding I would be doing; and everything I read on the net most people don't keep their first bike.

Add that to the fact that should I buy a bike now near end of season or wait until spring

Well that's enough rambling I think I'll so smash my against a wall then have a nice cold glass of ice water and take a couple of advil's
