For a minute there I thought you were going all sci-fi on us. The space time continuum?

Great video, Captain.
One thing I've noticed, though - when I'm leaving the following distance that I know I should have (and that I would prefer), I worry about that amount of space being an invitation to the cagers to just slide in there.
I know that the best bet is to leave the following space that you know you should have, then be vigilant against those who would slide into that gap. Space = time to react to that as well. It's a no-win to follow close enough to dissuade a cager from that maneuver; it can't be done. There will always be someone with enough bad judgment to try it.
I saw a horrendous example on the interstates not too long ago. There was a group of probably a dozen riders in the center lane (of three lanes in the same direction). Up ahead, the highway went from three lanes to two due to construction. The left lane was shut down and the left lane occupants needed to merge to their right.
Don't you know that a cager in that left lane decided to merge to the right RIGHT THROUGH THE MIDDLE of the group of cyclists? They scattered, and mercifully, no one died that day. Still, it was a very tense couple of moments.
I saw the situation developing up ahead of me; I was in a cage that day. I guess because I was maintaining an appropriate following distance myself, everyone else had a little more room to find somewhere to go. So that day, space = time = options for others' safety, too.

Great Video.
I use your videos as a refresher before I head out on the road. It can be days inbetween riding and I feel your videos help out a lot. Thanks again and I will keep watching.

Excellent video. I find that the space cushion is the single most factor when I'm on the highways. I'm ok with the people cruising in to it, as well. They can pop in to my space cushion, I can slow down a tiny bit and my cushion is back to normal size.
It is usually the guys behind me that scare the crap out of me. You know, when you look in the mirror and see half of a car because it is so close to you.
That's when I get the hell out of the way - especially if it is one of those gigantotron SUVs.
