2005 V Star 1100, bike recently started running rough when first started it runs good for about 1 min then starts running rough and shuts off it will only start and run with full choke where it will run rough for about another 2 to 3 min then idle kicks in and runs fine after that point. It will do this every time i start it.

Things i have already done...
I have already changed fuel filter, spark plugs, cleaned out carbs, cleaned out gas tank.

Any Ideas... Thanks for any info or ideas.

V-Stars need to be choked to start and warm up.

Wait for the bike to warm up then turn off the choke and ride.

It is not good to ride with the choke on so just be a bit patient for the warm up before you take off.
It will take only a few minutes.

Thanks for the reply, today on the ride to work the bike started back firing and shut off 3 times, as i pulled of to the side each time I put full choke and the bike started ran rough for about 30 seconds and then bike ran good after that point until the next time it did the same thing.

You have plenty of fuel in the tank? Silly question I know, but it happened to me. Just because you hear fuel in the tank, doesn't mean it's enough to run on.

Did you gap the new plugs? Can you check them again to see if they have fouled? If they have fouled, now you have more information to help you find the trouble.

But honestly, it sounds like a dirty low-speed jet, or a dirty idle circuit.
Carbs are hard, it is not uncommon to have to pull them and clean them several times until the trouble clears up. By clean I mean taking out the jets and putting claener and air pressure through each one.

Did you check the tank vent?

It does it on a full tank. Do you know the correct gap i read that it is .28 to .31, I have tried NKG and Autolite 63 plugs. I haven't checked the tank vent, but i'll look for it tonight.

Yesterday on the ride to work it started backfiring and shut off 3 time on a 35 mile ride, i put full choke and let it run about 30 second and it runs great until it does the same thing agin.

Does anyone know if the fuel pump should pump out a steady stream of gas, I disconnected the line from the pump to the carbs and turn the key on it spits a little bit of fuel out then a pause for about 5 sec spits a little more fuel pause for about 10 sec spits a little more fuel out. Is that a normal operation of the pump?

Thanks for the comments and advise.
