BIKERS PROTEST

#1 Post by keithvmx1200 » Mon Sep 14, 2009 10:31 pm

Bikers have been protesting against the North Wales Police, for the past six months the Welsh Police have been stopping bikers, and under the guise of safety have been giving out fines and penalty points for all sorts of reasons, tinted visors, small number plates, loud pipes etc, so a bike rag decided to organise a protest ride out to Wales, the day went well, and MCN claim 10,000 bikers turned up, this vid shows just one meeting place in Wales, before one big meet up at the end of the day.

Interesting. Nice to see such a variety of bikes.

There are always two sides to a story of course. My guess is the police are cracking down on the general motorcycling population due to the actions of a few nutters on the roads. Perhaps they figure this crackdown will force the motorcyclists to do a bit more "self-policing" amongst themselves. They certainly have brought a lot of you together to discuss the issue it seems.

Nice area, North Wales. We'll be back over there next summer, but not riding unfortunately. Every few years we rent a cottage in the Yorkshire Dales and travel around the countryside by train and car. Maybe I'll rent a bike for day...found a hire firm in York.
There is no such thing as a bad motorcycle.

Apparently the North Wales police force and their recently retired Chief Constable Richard Brunstrom are notorious for being somewhat over-the-top in anti motorcycle bias, and anti-civil-liberties in general. He was also apparently a big advocate of the proliferation of CCTV cameras.

Glad I don't live there.
