can the japanese companies NOT sell a bike like th zrx1200 (kawasaki) or xjr1300 (yamaha) here in the states?

why do they insist on broken back crotch rockets or harley wanna bes?

im currently on a pair of early 80s yamahas because they have the riding position i want...

jeeez, they just "pee" me off...

Unfortunately cruisers and crotch rockets are what Americans buy the most of (by a large majority), so that's what the manufactures ship over.

Not enough people like you want standards, or are willing to spend the money for them, to convince them otherwise these days.

My bike is a pretty good example. It has a nice seating position, same engine as the hayabusa - but it was panned critically by the US market - mostly because of aerodynamics it can't exceed 150mph!

150!!!

It is a great bike. But it appears few if anyone bought it in the US. Popular in europe, though.

Lots of ZRXs made it over for the years they were imported, but after so many years without an update people quit buying them.

Did you ever consider a Bandit?

+1 on the Bandit. That's a fantastic bike.

What about the Z1000? Never ridden one but it seems like it's more relaxed than the typical rocket.

I'm a naked standard guy myself, I wanted a Suzuki SV1000N but there are so few used N's that I ended up having to buy an SV1000S. When I get the money I'm going to swap out the stock clip-ons with Heli bars risers (or some equivalent) to get a more standard seating position so there's that option for some of the inbetween sport bikes...

+1 Suzuki Bandit
+1 Kawasaki Z1000
+1 Suzuki B-King

Other options:

- Kawasaki Versys
- Yamaha FZ1

Non-Japanese options:

- Triumph Speed Triple
- Harley XR1200
- Ducati Monster
- Aprilia Tuono
- KTM Superduke

I know it's frustrating when manufacturers drop a bike that you like, I was really sad to see Suzuki discontinue the SV1000 line but if you keep an open mind and are willing to put some time and money into mods you can still have the bike you want :)

with the exception of the Harley, every last one of these is too forward leaning for my tastes...

i like the Harley but for $12g ill keep my 97hp xj900R with the CHEAP insurance and $30 plates...

I would also like more options in this category. I was disappointed when I found out that yamaha was dropping the fz6 from it's list next year. I was thinking of buying one in a couple of years. Hopefully, there will be other models in the future.

Yeah, I wish Honda didn't stop selling new Hornets here. The dealer in NYC has one left from 2007 and it's selling pretty cheap. Now if only my insurance company would just give me a price a few hundred less for coverage on it.

I also wish that Kawasaki would bring the ZRX 400 or make a 500 or 600 cc version of it to the US.

I envy the UK with their Honda CB600-F. It may be tame for them but would be an awesome commuter bike for people in America.

Could the answer to your question above regarding why they don't bring in the types of bikes that practical minded people want to buy be hidden in your other post below? :P
