I think I have a charging system problem.
My Bike 2008 1300 VStar Tourer

Riding home one day and I noticed that I had no......

Turn signals but the lights were on.

Horn

And no head light because I tried to turn the high beam on and nothing happen on the display.

The speedometer quit working for a minute but came back on. I already had the speed sensor changed last week.

I pulled over and yup, no head light then took the seat off and discovered I had a blown fuse so I changed the fuse and now the signals and horn are working again but the head light takes a few seconds to come on.

who sells a battery that doesn't cost a million bucks from the stealer.

So....... what do you think?

First you cannot get a weak or bad battery to charge to a proper level and maintain it. Also verify you don't have just a bad connections somewhere. Check most of the connections ususally means taking off the gas tank/seat/both side covers then unplugging/contact spray/replugging all connectors.

Second what is the voltage at the battery while bike is off. (Should be about 12.3 to 12.9 volts max- less than 12 volts get a new battery asap) Then what is it while running with all accessories on? (should be greater than 13 volts depending on your bikes specs- less than 13 volts your electrical system is overwhelmed with accessories or you need to replace a couple of different charging parts and need a mechanic to determine which ones)

The above is to see if you are just over running your electrical system capability or if your battery is just getting old and in need of a replacement or have a real charging system problem.

If you only have a poor battery, there are chain stores that it may cost $20 to 30 for a new battery with yours turned in. Let your fingers do the walking. Ask about if they put the acid in and charge it for you. Then you can ride the bike there and just swap it out your self.

Just in case look in your manual on how to jump your bike. Usually the positive starter relay and neg ground like the gear shifter.

Hi and tks for the info.

I took the bike to Ga Check point and When Daytona did the service they missed a few things like the battery connections and didn't check the wire connections to the other parts of the bike so Ga check point re connected everything and tada everything works great now, and didn't charge me. needless to say who gets my business now, Daytona wanted to charge me for something they should have done or checked in the first place again.
