Well Sheet.....

I almost lowsided my bike today. But before the bike could hit the ground on the lowside, the square curb I was heading for kindly flipped me over the highside. Luckily, I wasn't going too fast, and the bike landed on the grass verge between the road and the sidewalk. Light scratches and a small crack in the leftside lower fairing... and the frame slider busted off that side, well the cheap cast aluminum bracket it uses to mount to the frame snapped.

I didn't come off as well. I landed on my left shoulder. Busted my collar bone. Fluckin' Owww. Picking the bike back up hurt like a am-fm, and reaching for the bars sure got my attention. But I rode the bike back home, all 100 yards or so, and got a ride to the hospital.

They got me slinged up, nothing for the pain and charged me $25 for the crapass sling the sent me home in. 4-6 weeks of not moving it (no problem, I can feel the bone ends grinding together if I move wrong, ick) and then I can start working on mobility.

Now I am off to self-medicate and try to find a comfortable position on the couch.

My season is done....

Heal up fast! Youch. THere isn't much worse than the bone-to-bone grinding feeling either (had that when I broke my arm. :( ).

Dammit, Buzz, you are NOT 18 anymore - the bod can't handle the abuse as easily as it used to.

Seriously, though, it's a bummer to hear about this but I am thankful that you are still with us.

Oh no!

I'm glad you took only light damage - in bike and in person. You are badass, too I would have wussed out and asked for help - if there was help to be had.

The lowside might have been a better experience, lobby to have the curb removed. :)

And there is no way I could pick my bike injured. I can barely pick it up healthy.

Well, good healng, and fixing the bike up.

Thanx guys.

Stupid hurts. I have always known that and proved it many times, but I keep trying to re-prove established facts anyways.....

I have busted most of the bones in both hands at one time or another at work, but this is the first 'real' fracture I ever had to endure. I don't much care for it, either.

The worst part is that it is not immobilized except by this chintzy sling, and it moves way to much for my tastes. You're right, that grinding business is pretty awful.

And Gummi, you are sooo right. Getting old takes all the fun out of bouncing off the ground. Glad I was in 1st gear and not really hauling asss. That would have been a whole lot less fun, and it ain't all that fun now.

Worst part is, I had a job interview next week with Agrium, a good job for $40+/hr. I don't think I'll get it now. :frusty:

Glad to hear injuries are minor, get well quick.

Don't skip that interview, you never know if the compassionate vote might come in and you still get the job...

Oh hey, watch how your collar bone heals - a buddy of mine years ago fractured it and then ended up with some kind of bony knot where it broke because it didn't quite heal right.

I'd go to the interview. It'll at the least show determination on your part.
