New VFR Vid

I started watching this because I want the bike, but found that the beginning section would be awesome for beginners. It shows all four appendages during manual riding on a motorcycle.

This bike has lots of neat new tech, but somethings missing. I thought it was supposed to have variable cylinder management?

The auto transmission option shifts a lot better than I do.

VCM was mentioned everywhere in the lead up to this reveal, but now I see no word of it. Maybe in the quest to shave weight VCM had to go?

Nice bike, I'm still undecided on that auto shift feature, there's a part of me that says clutching and shifting is part of the barometer that measures skill in driving, but maybe I'm just being an elitist jerk.

Never been a fan of automatic transmissions, even in cages or trucks. Like the control a standard gives you and the ability to drop it down a clog or two when you really need to punch it.

Man, how did a beautiful bike like the '97 VFR turn into something that looks like the worst of the BMW styling rejects?

I agree, manual tranny's are best for control. But for city driving/riding, it's nice to have an auto.

Not that I'd ever put an auto on my bike. That's a dirty thought!

Agreed (on the '97 being beautiful), however I don't think that the new bike looks all that bad, just different. As the VFR started as the Superbike it seems that Honda is changing the design criteria to meet the age of the riders that buy them. For the next generation we should expect reverse, air bags, sound system etc....

ok, on the chance of being told i shouldn't be on a stationary exercise bike...

i cant imagine having an auto transmission -

I could NOT operate around town without the manual clutch - i use the clutch (friction zone too) to totally control turn angles in intersections - clutching lets me shrink the turn radius whenever necessary, even mid turn... i know that brc says NO clutch or brake on turns, but at these speeds it seems the most critical control...??? balancing the clutch/throttle gives me more precise control. am i right or out to lunch?

I don't mind the option for automatic, but the paddle shifters look fun. Since riding is about fun, if they are half as fun as they look.

Miss the VCM, though.

That's probably why I like it - I seem to like uglier bikes. Too bad that isn't the way it works with women or I'd be.... a male mean?
