Is there a solid (read: skinsaving and armored) textile jacket that's moderately waterproof and wearable in temperatures ranging from 50F to 90F? I figure I can always wear a sweater or something, so I mostly just need ventedness. Suggestions?

I just got a Joe rocket Atomic 2.0 for Father's day. It is all those things, and I rode in 96 degrees yesterday, with high humidity. Not bad at all while moving...much cooler than my leather jacket, with vents. This one has biceps venting, too, and it makes a big difference.

Wow, I can't believe I've missed the Atomic 2, seeing as how much time I spend on joerocket.com and ridegear.com.

It does seem like it might be a great jacket for what I'm looking for (at least, good enough to warrant the 1 1/2 drive it takes to get to a JR dealer). It even comes in yellow.

Btw, it has a zip-out sleeveless liner, and Only one pocket. It's an inside zippered chest pocket big enough for checkbook, and earplug case, maybe more (that's all I put there). I use a cargo net if I want to carry stuff around, so pockets don't matter to me. Just wanted to mention that. It is extremely comfortable and flows good amounts of air around with all six vents open. You can open the cuffs, too and just snap/velcro them around the open zipper for a little more sleeve air.

Got mine at an independent cycle shop. He ordered it from a catalog, and I had it in 4 days.

i 2nd the atomic 2.0. I like it a lot, and i've also ridden it in some pretty hot humid weather and i stay relatively cool.

I wore my Joe Rocket Meteor 4.0 during the deluge of rain that Calgary's been getting the last month; one sunday I was out in the rain for between 4 and 5 hours and my top was dry as a bone when I took it off.

Zip in liner, air vents at the biceps and back.

The Meteor 5.0 on the website should be about the same and looks a little more sharp too.

I have a Joe Rocket summer mesh jacket, very cool as wind blows through the whole thing, but still it has the armour. It has a removable waterproof liner that works great and folds up very small so you can take it with you. Also has 2 small pockets so you can carry a few things.
I've been caught in a deluge a couple of times and stayed dry.

One of the dealerships told me there are some mesh pants with a removable rain liner coming out, but I haven't found them anywhere yet.

I have a Powertrip San Jose Mesh Jacket.

It has body armor and a removable liner. I wore it during my MSF course in 90 degree weather and it was really not too bad. In anything under 90 it's really comfortable.

I think wearing a motorcycle sweater or jacket is more comfortable. thats the basic requirement for driving so you stay on the right track. jackets and sweatshirts are less expensive too.
