I'm thinking of building my own highway bar for use on those long rides where I need to stretch out and enjoy the scenery. I'm 6'1" 210#, riding a 1981 Honda CB900 Custom, and find my legs get cramped up after about an hour in the saddle.
I've got engine guards on the bike, but they aren't far enough away from the footpegs to really make a difference if I mount extra pegs on. So, I'd like to add an extra bar in front of the exhaust headers, somehow attached onto the frame downtubes, and mount highway pegs on the ends of that.
I think I've seen something like this available commercially, but I can't seem to find anything on the net. Does anyone have one of these installed that they could point me to pictures of? I want to get a better idea of positioning and how they attach to the frame.
