I've found a flat black Shark Helmet that I really like for a great price. Anyone have any experience with one and more specifically, does it scratch up easy? Hopefully Miss Sunshade will no longer say I look like Shrek with a flashy new helmet  ....or perhaps it will be quiet enough inside that I won't hear her.....

I have this one http://www.hjchelmets.com/cl21_reign.htm from HJC. It is not all black but some. I found it scratch up pretty easy but I like the way it look than gloss helmet.

yeah flat black is hell to keep consistent and clean... with a polished finish you cn always buff anything that's not through the paint out, with flat, you're out of luck.

so it will just get cooler looking as you wear it in :)

I don't have a flat black helmet for a number of reasons.

1. Saftey. A bright colored helmet is easier to see.
2. Heat. A flat black helmet will absorb more heat on a hot day.
3. Keeping it clean is easier with a glossy finish.

Just my 2 cents.

I have a leather covered helmet. It is kinda like flat black I guess. Haven't had any wear issues yet.

This is a little off topic but I saw this guy over the weekend on a sport bike that was painted bright orange and he had a bright red orange jacket and while it was really loud I noticed him even out of the corner of my eye on a side street while I was riding. For me that was a great argument for bright colors.

I prefer round helmets...even in black. Sorry, couldn't resist...it's raining out, getting punchy.

I have a flat black/grey helmet now. I couldn't stand it being all shiny, It doesn't seem any hotter than when it was glossy.

It has a good little scratch on the side of it now too.

Anyone have a flat-black helmet?
