after reading the other thread about a bike being messed with and having just been at the store and seen it happen, it bugs me.

while at the store there were two CBRs parked next to each other, i see two guys walk over to them and start looking at them. i didnt think anything of it but they keep looking kneeling down to look under etc just eye groping the bikes all over. next thing you know the one guy starts twisting at the throttle and messing with the levers. before you know these two guys jump right on the bikes put their feet up on the pegs and go on to act like they are racing or something. now they werent kids they must have been 20-22 or so. it was obvious they didnt own the bikes and later i see them get off and get in a car and leave.

i would have gone over and done something, but i was a bit busy. sucks for whoever owned the bikes. not sure how id react if i walked out and saw someone on my bike. prolly end up in jail for how ill react which will suck lol.

I'd walk up behind him, belt him in the head with my helmet. Call the cops, sit down and wait. Ask to press charges when he regains consiousness for attempted vehicular robbery.

This is one of those situations where I'd probably end up in jail if I saw someone messing with my bike. I don't think justifiable homicide would be a workable defence; only another rider could understand what it feels like to have your bike fondled without permission.

i dont think sitting on a bike is considered attempted bike theft, youd have to prove he was actually in the act of stealing it(hard when its your word vs his). he would have to have some sorts of tools on him(screw drivers, wires/gator clips etc) to justify a theft claim. also assault and battery is a bigger charge than attempted bike theft. chances are youd end up in jail and hed walk free and clear saying he was looking at your bike when you attackd him. ...hit him in the head them when hes on the ground, but dont wait around for the cops.

Tell the offending party to stay the hell off your bike, and be prepared to back it up with violence. Being old, I prefer the .357 magnum to the knuckle sandwich anymore.
It's always a good idea to park your bike where you can see it, so you can stop the gawker/groper before he really gets started. Most of them will leave it alone if you are polite but assertive.

Yep, you can get a lot more with a kind word and a gun than with just a kind word. But up here in Canada we don't have the luxury of carrying firearms... probably just as well, because my butt would be in the slammer many times over for road rage incidents caused by stupid cagers who p*ssed me off.

no thing better than a pistol on your hip while riding to keep people in line. or in a car the pistol up on the dash in plain view(legally). i love my states right to open carry laws ; )

I was on my porch the other night and i had my bike parked down the street a bit, all of the sudden i see these 2 kids (16-17) come running down the street playing with a large ball, the one kid gets it... and says "I'M GONNA JUMP THIS BIKE!!!" and does so, i just shake my head and go back to chilling on my porch...after i move my bike to a closer position to me.

Or hide the body well. Or throw the corpse off an overpass into heavy traffic. Alternatively, I hear from reliable sources that breaking fingers one at a time with a pair of pliers is an exellent way to make your piont to the more thickheaded morons out there.
