front tire width and getting caught in road groves

#1 Unread post by flw »

Is it pretty common to get oem front tires causght in cracks, tar snakes etc... more easily that a bigger front tire?

I have a oem vulcan 500 ltd which does have a small front tire. It justr seems that it gets caugth in amlost anything. Rough groved surface is the wortst, I can right through it but saftey factor is lowered lot

How does this compare to a dual sport bike like Kawa KLM 650 or a 450 dual sport bike.

Well most of the dual-sports have extremely narrow front tires and track just like your Vulcan and usually worse because of the steeper rake than a cruiser. Most performance tires even on cars do that though. It's just one of those things. If you go to a slicker, more performance oriented tire it should help versus a regular tire with lots of grooves.

Get used to it darling ;)

Cause thats what happens when they let 50 tonne trucks use our motorways, they heat em up and chew em up.

120 is a standard front, having a wide front tyre isnt going to help you, in fact, it will be worse.

You will get used to it, and will instinctively fight the road groves and not even know your doing it.
