What stater bikes have good insurance scores? I've been looking at getting a Starter Bike. Some of the ones I've looked though I've realized have high insurance scores. I'm looking to spend around $1000 or less.

My CBR 125 for full coverage is 500is for the year with state farm. It would be 300 ish if I had my van with them as well.

That is a newly licensed motorcycle driver as well. ( I did take the course )

Depends on where you live (city or suburbs), how old you are, what your driving/claims history is. Different insurance companies will sometimes rate the same bike differently by $100s of dollars per year.

Find a bike you like, then check what your insurance company will charge. If you can afford it, buy it.

I live in the City, and we have high crime rates here. That's why it's so expensive for me!

I checked into being just a few miles over in the county, and it was a lot cheaper. I guess I don't really save money in gas, because it all goes to insurance! :D

I can remember when they had a 25% surcharge on FC for Harleys just because of the higher theft rate. Liability insurance is pretty much the same cost with any bike but full coverage is another story. One company had a higher rate if bike was over 30 inch (500cc) but under 61inch (1000cc) another if bike over 45ci. (another vrated prices based on theft so a FXR was more to insure than a FLH)

It really pays to shop around as some companies will have same rate for entire State but others will have different rates for each zip code. Most will give a discount for rider education. Many are cheaper if you park bike in a garage at night.

lots of variables. I get _MUCH_ cheaper rates because I ride V-Twins instead of 4-cyl

agreed, the difference in insurance for my SV650S against a CBR600RR was amazing, then I realized how much better twins were but the RC51 is a little expensive tho.

Depends on the type of coverage and displacement.

My 50hp 500cc Vtwin was only 5$ cheaper to insure than my 90hp 600cc 4 cylinder was. This was for liability + Uninsured motorist in both cases as the bikes were both well used and not financed iirc the bandit ran me about 110 a year. Uninsured motorist was more expensive than liability but still not bad. For an over 25 married male in a town of about 60,000 and above average theft rates.

Bike insurance ain't that expensive. My Nightster is about 450 a year, and I'm betting my driving record is far worse than yours.
