Hey Everyone. I bought my bike about a year ago and since then I have ran out of Gas twice..
The first time I had no clue what was wrong with it so I took it to a shop and ended up spending $250 and the only problem they guy told me was that i had air in my gas lines..

I ran out of gas again a cpl weeks ago and i dont have the money to take it to the shop again.. Any ideas how I can fix it myself?? im not too mechanically inclined and dont know much about bikes..

Ive been told there may be a prime switch but cant seem to locate it..

I have a 1996 Yamaha Seca II.

The Prime 'button' is actually just another position on the fuel petcock on the gas tank. You have

Off....... no gas flow
On....... gas flows when vacuum from the engine opens the diaphragm in the petcock (running conditions)
Prime... Gas flows freely, no matter if the bike is running or not.

'Air in the Lines' sounds a like line given to take your money. The trouble with running out of fuel is that it allows all the crud and grunge in the bottom of the tank to be sucked into the carbs, possibly blocking/clogging the jets in the carb. The only way to fix this is to take them off and apart and clean that stuff out of those tiny openings.
