1983 Honda CB650 sc nighthawk turn signals

Hi I am a newbie to bikes just purchased a 83 nighthawk 650 and getting ready for a season of riding and I discover the turn signals are not operating I have a clymer manual on order But here is my problem when i use the signals the front marker lights go out no flash nothing the rear signals do nothing In my Impatient wisdom I pulled apart the switch because the switch is very diffucult to slide left to right and I find it is full of dust and dirt and the switch contacts are worn to the point of tranparency so I look online and the part is no longer available through honda so I have ordered a aftermarket one what my other concern is how do I prove the turn signal relay is working without a wiring diagram I would like to sort this out all at once. My turn signal relay is the 3 wire type any help or tips would be appreciated thanks Darin
