Question about the "Yamaha V Star 250"
First time biker here looking to get his first bike. And I have questions.
Is the "2010 Yamaha V Star 250" suitable for the interstate? Does it have the pick up and go needed for interstate travel?

Re: Question about the "Yamaha V Star 250"
I guess no one has an answer for this one.
Basically I'm intreated in a cruiser for beginners but most are single or side-by-side piston. I like the standard V. I'm also looking on craigslist and in cycle trader for a used bike.
Oh. I just passed the test today, on the first try, and got my motorcycle permit.

Don't know about the V start but I was looking at this

Local dealer never contacted me after filling out the online contact form Honda did so that is why I got the CBR 125.
Of the 250 cruiser type bikes I like the look of the Hyosung best.

Well congratulations on passing your test!
Yeah you can take a 250 on the highway, but depending on your size, just don't expect it to have a lot of acceleration left above 70mph or so, and some 250s are better than others for highway travel, there is more choice if you are open to bike styles other than cruisers.
I have never ridden that one, but I have ridden a 250 on the highway and it's adequate, but I have to admit, if feels a lot better on a more powerful bike, especially in those situations where you are already traveling at 70mph + and you want to create space in a hurry.

Passing and getting out of the way was my main concern for a bike like this.

NICE! I looked online for Hyosung and found the web site. And wouldn't you know, a dealer located a mile from my home! I did not know they sold these. I haven't been to this particular dealer sense last year. I'm going to see them tomorrow.
Thanks.

Re: Question about the "Yamaha V Star 250"
That is the 2010 model and Hyosung has a similar looking model that is coming out with the same looks but a 650 in 2011 which has a very good chance of becoming my next bike. If you don't mind having Carbs you could find a deal on a new 2009 model.
You're welcome

Re: Question about the "Yamaha V Star 250"
The local dealer just got the contract with Hyosung. They only had one bike, a GT250R. It's a Sports Bike. The salesmen said that they placed an order but he did not know what bike or when they will arrive. The boss was out of town.csspostal wrote:That is the 2010 model and Hyosung has a similar looking model that is coming out with the same looks but a 650 in 2011 which has a very good chance of becoming my next bike. There are 2 more dealers in Charlotte and I'm heading up there in a week or two. If I have time I'll go to one of them.

Re: Question about the "Yamaha V Star 250"
The new 2010 Cycle World Buyer's Guide I just recieved shows a GV650 that looks much like the GV250 but is considerably larger according to specs. It has a 66.9" WB and 511# wet weight compared to the 59.6" and 388# of the 250. Seat height remains about the same though.csspostal wrote:That is the 2010 model and Hyosung has a similar looking model that is coming out with the same looks but a 650 in 2011 which has a very good chance of becoming my next bike.
